Manchester United’s £600 million deal with Nike

Manchester United are set to announce that they have agreed a renewal with their technical supplier Nike for the upcoming 10 seasons. The Red Devils, as they are commonly known among their massive worldwide fanbase, will net an extraordinary £600 million, or $1 billion, from Nike over the coming ten years. The club will therefore be receiving £60 million per season from Nike, more than doubling the current £23.5 million per season being received. The top earner from kit manufacturers is Real Madrid which earn £31 million per season from Adidas.
The other contenders vying for the contract to supply Manchester United with kits and training wear for the next decade are reported to be Puma and Warrior. However, Manchester United were not interested in changing their kit supplier and by the end of this new contract, the two parties will have been working with each other for 23 years since when Manchester United changed to Nike from Umbro.

As from next season, the club will also be earning around £35 million per season from new kit sponsor Chevrolet. The logo of the car manufacturer will appear on Manchester United kits as from the 2014/15 season. Should Manchester United not manage to get into the UEFA Champions League zone during the 2013/14 season, they would still net close to £100 million per season from the kit supplier and kit sponsor alone. These provide a major boost to the transfer kitty available to David Moyes next summer when Manchester United are expected to spend big to rejuvenate the squad and attract top-class stars to the most successful English football club in recent football history.
