Amazon unveils its first smartphone, the Fire Phone with 3D display

Amazon has debuted its first handset, the Fire Phone, at an event in Seattle.
The smartphone, which runs Amazon's Android-based Fire OS 3.5, features a 4.7-inch HD display and quad-core 2.2GHz chip.

Coming in 32GB and 64GB models, Fire Phone also boasts a Gorilla Glass screen, 590 nits brightness, an Adreno 330 graphics processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP rear-facing camera with f/2.0 lens and optical image stabilisation, while Amazon provides unlimited cloud storage for your photos.

Firefly has been introduced as well - a new feature that recognises data like phone numbers and product information through the phone's camera, enabling users to buy items through Amazon.

Furthermore, the phone can construct 3D images at 60 frames per second, using four face-tracking cameras on its front. A 'Dynamic Perspective' is created, with a head-tracking tool meaning you can look around and behind images on the phone.

Other functions include auto-scroll, which enables customers to use tilting to read a long web page or a book without ever having to touch the screen.

The Amazon Fire Phone is exclusive to AT&T in the US at the moment, with pre-ordering now available. Prices start at $199 on contract for the 32GB model. It is available in the US on July 25, with a UK release yet to be confirmed.

The much-rumoured phone was recently teased in a video that featured users reacting to the eye-catching tech. Watch the video below:
