For some people, particularly those suffering with depression related issues, getting up in the morning is more than just beating the will to snooze. What should you bother getting up for? How do you greet the day if you're upset, depressed, anxious or frustrated? You may be depressed, trapped or simply looking for some change in your daily routine.
Knowing how to wake up and begin a new day is important to make life more fun and motivating. And it's easier than you think.
1
Get out of bed. If this is hard for you then set an alarm clock and put it on a table or windowsill across the room so you'll have to get up to turn it off. Get a friend to call you and check that you're up, or a family member to wake you. Find a way of forcing yourself up so that the rest of the day will become easier.
2
Greet the day. Take a moment to pull back the curtains, greet the sunrise (if you're early enough!) and just be grateful for another day. So many people are too harassed or "busy" to be thankful for the small things, but in reality it takes only minutes and really does you good.
3
Be optimistic about the day. Do this by looking at yourself in the mirror and saying at least 10 good things about yourself, such as, "I am the best" or "I have nice eyes." It will definitely improve your day.
4
Get ready. Have a shower, eat breakfast, get dressed, do what you have to do to prepare for the day. Pack your bag, gather your books. Don't let any stress or worries claim you - just focus on getting ready and keeping calm and relaxed.
5
Focus on your objectives for the day, and get them done as soon as possible.Outline what work/homework you need to do, errands to be completed, etc and then go straight ahead and do them.
6
Trust in your inner strength to solve any problem that day.
7
Remember this: "If life doesn't smile at you, tickle life 'till it laughs!"
8
Sing (or hum) any song with a positive message.
9
Eat Breakfast. This is a healthy way to start the day and will help you throughout the day. It is best to eat within an hour of waking up.
10
Exercise. It releases chemicals in the brain that make you feel better.
11
Smile. It will release feel-good chemicals in your brain, and make you feel cheerful, the best frame of mind to start any day.
