Tesco has 'no plans' to return to the tablet market with the Hudl 3

Tesco's Hudl 2 was praised for its capable performance and wallet-friendly price tag, but it doesn't sound like the firm is returning to tablets anytime soon.

A spokesperson for the supermarket giant told Marketing that there are "no plans" for a Hudl 3.

The publication also claims that key members of staff who worked on the first and second-generation tablets have since parted company with Tesco.

The original Hudl was a surprise hit, holding its own against the likes of the Google Nexus 7 thanks to its affordable launch price of £119.

It was followed by the Hudl 2 last year, which came with beefed up specs and a slightly higher price tag of £129.

Tesco is gradually retreating from the digital and technology sectors, having recently offloaded Blinkbox and Tesco Broadband to internet service provider TalkTalk and shuttered Blinkbox Books.

The retailer also shelved plans for a Hudl-branded smartphone, likely due to competition from the thriving budget Android market.
