A couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday night between 8pm and 9pm BST I was actively engaged in a weekly Twitter feed simply known as Truro Hour a local group ran by Matt Allen engaging with people from around the Truro area. On this particular night I spoke to Michael Bearcroft a local author who is releasing this book very soon. Please read and support this author. Share a Wise Word or Two.

Murder,
Intrigue and the Beautiful Game!
Book
Synopsis:
The
story begins as one man scores a goal which catapults him from relative
obscurity into the limelight, with all of the pressures that this brings. He
meets a girl only to discover that she has been missing, presumed dead for a
year. He then has to cope with adulation turning to hatred as a result.
He is
sacked from his job, abused by the media and public alike, and then begins a
journey to prove his innocence. Along the way he finds true love, discovers
himself and re-evaluates the real purpose of life. During this journey he helps
to bring down a criminal gang and learns about the charities involved in
working to stop people trafficking and the sex trade.
He has
the chance to put all the lessons he has learned into action when he becomes
player manager for the team and signs up to help a worthy cause involving
family, friends and workmates in putting something back into society.
From the
start with the excitement of the game, that goal, to his becoming a pariah, the
pace continues to hot up to include battles with criminal gangs to new career
and commercial rewards. Following a romantic interlude in Canada the pace
quickens again as murder occurs and a new life emerges.
As he
adjusts to his new role as player manager and experiences all the behind the
scenes activities of a football club, the race is on to be ready for a new
season, a new beginning and a new world.
About
the author:
Introduction
- My knowledge of football has been built upon a lifetime of experience, which
started when I was a junior player for Sheffield Utd. As an adult I have
been chairman of Corby Town FC and as a Chief Executive my business was a main
sponsor of Kettering Town, Rothwell Town and Rushden and Diamonds FC. I lived
in Northamptonshire (where the book is set) for over 20 years and during my
time in the county I was chairman of a local radio station and a regional
director of the British Red Cross.
Background
- In a typical year I will read around 20 thrillers. I've always been
supportive of charities and this book encapsulates both a sport I love and the
chance to help a football related charity - the ideal starting point for my
first novel. I understand what happens behind the scenes of a football club and
I know how difficult it is for charities to raise funds and awareness in
today's economic climate.
About me
- As an actor I have appeared in a number of TV shows and films including
Brum, Casualty, Peak Practice, Brookside, Hollyoaks and Ali G Da Movie. As the
first corporate sponsor of the British Red Cross I met and worked alongside, on
occasions, Diana Princess of Wales, Sir Cliff Richard, Angela Rippon, Lord Tony
Pandy and DJ Mike Reid amongst others. I was chairman of the British
Health Care Services and as such became friends with Bert McGhee, Chairman of
Sheffield Wednesday FC, Dave Watson the England international and Scottish
international John Robertson.
My own
company chairman was Bertie Mee MBE, the former Arsenal manager. Gary
Lineker worked with me for a period of time and I also appeared on the pitch at
a Wembley cup final with Harvey Goldsmith.
