Premier League Darts 2017- Fixtures Confirmed!

Newly crowned world champion Michael van Gerwen will begin the defence of his Betway Premier League title against two-time world champion Gary Anderson, a rematch of their recent World Championship final, when the competition gets underway at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle on Thursday February 2nd.

The opening nine weeks see the players meet once in the league phase, before the bottom two players are eliminated following Judgement Night in Cardiff.

The remaining eight players then face each other again in the remaining six league nights in April and May, before the top four players progress to compete in the Play-Offs at The O2 in London on Thursday May 18.

Van Gerwen defeated Anderson 7-3 to win his second world title a fortnight ago, halting Anderson’s incredible seventeen match winning streak at the Alexandra Palace. However, the Scotsman will have his opportunity to secure instant retribution when the tournament gets underway in Newcastle.

Six-time Premier League winner Phil Taylor begins his campaign with a tie against 2015 semi-finalist Dave Chisnall, whilst 2014 winner and five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld locks horns with two-time world champion Adrian Lewis, in a repeat of their last 16 clash at the Ally Pally last month.

The remaining opening night ties see world number three Peter Wright take on Jelle Klaasen, who is making his long-awaited return, having last appeared in this tournament back in 2009. Elsewhere, 2009 winner James Wade kicks off the tournament agains Kim Huybrechts, who is also making his return to the Premier League fold.

Night Two at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham will see Van Gerwen continue his tricky start against Peter Wright, whilst Phil Taylor and James Wade will clash in a repeat of their two previous Premier League finals. They met in the historic 2010 final, which saw the Stoke-on-Trent ace record two nine-dart finishes en route to an unprecedented triumph.

The other matches see Target stablemates Adrian Lewis and Dave Chisnall face off, whilst two-time Premier League winner Anderson takes on Jelle Klaasen, before the night concludes with a clash between Van Barneveld and Huybrechts.

The First Direct Arena in Leeds hosts night three of this year’s competition, as Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld renew their iconic rivalry. Van Barneveld defeated ‘The Power’ in the World Championship quarter-finals just weeks ago, and also defeated the 16-time world champion 7-2 when the pair clashed in Leeds twelve months ago.

Gary Anderson and Peter Wright will open the night in an all-Scottish affair, whilst arch rivals Michael van Gerwen and Jelle Klaasen lock horns. The remaining fixtures see Adrian Lewis meet James Wade, whilst Chisnall and Huybrechts also do battle.

The Premier League roadshow heads to Brighton for week four, as Van Gerwen takes on world number four Adrian Lewis. Gary Anderson and James Wade meet in a repeat of their classic Grand Slam semi-final back in November.

Two of the contests in week four are repeats of last 16 matches at the World Championship, as Taylor and Chisnall meet Huybrechts and Klaasen respectively, whilst the night concludes with a tasty tussle between Van Barneveld and Wright.

Exeter’s Westpoint Arena hosts week five, where the highlight of the evening’s matches is a showdown between Anderson and Taylor, in a repeat of their epic World Championship Final in 2015, where ‘The Flying Scotsman’ prevailed in a deciding set epic to win his maiden world title.

Van Gerwen takes on James Wade, the man who inflicted defeat on the Dutchman in the opening night of last year’s event, whilst Adrian Lewis and Peter Wright also meet. Chisnall and Van Barneveld is the night’s opening match, as stablemates Klaasen and Huybrechts also face off.

The Premier League heads to Scottish soil in week six at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow. Home favourite Gary Anderson faces Dave Chisnall in the final match of the evening, whilst fellow Scot Peter Wright takes on James Wade.

Michael van Gerwen plays Kim Huybrechts, Van Barneveld and Klaasen will contest an all-Dutch affair, whilst the evening begins with a battle of the Stoke stars, as Adrian Lewis clashes with 16-time world champion Phil Taylor.

Night seven then sees the tournament return to the Rotterdam Ahoy arena, where Van Gerwen and Taylor will collide for the second year in succession. MvG prevailed 7-5 on that occasion, and also emphatically defeated ‘The Power’ 11-3 in the final of last year’s event.

Raymond van Barneveld will be roared on by a partisan Dutch crowd against Gary Anderson, whilst the third Dutchman in the field, Jelle Klaasen, makes his Rotterdam bow against James Wade. The remaining two matches see Wright face Chisnall, and Huybrechts play Lewis.

The Manchester Arena will host the penultimate night of league action before Judgement Night, and Michael van Gerwen will take on his legendary compatriot Raymond van Barneveld, in a repeat of their record-breaking World Championship semi-final earlier this month.

Phil Taylor resumes his rivalry with Peter Wright and Gary Anderson opens the night against Kim Huybrechts in a repeat of their World Grand Prix quarter-final clash last October. Elsewhere, Jelle Klaasen plays Adrian Lewis, whilst Wade and Chisnall contest an all-English tie.

The decisive final league night, before the bottom two players are eliminated,sees Gary Anderson take on Adrian Lewis in a repeat of the 2016 World Championship Final. Van Gerwen’s final league tie, before the cut off, sees him play St Helen’s star Dave Chisnall, whilst Taylor looks to avenge his 2016 World Championship defeat to Jelle Klaasen.

The night is opened up by Premier League veterans James Wade and Raymond van Barneveld, before Judgement Night is brought to a close with a clash between Wright and Huybrechts.

The fixtures for the remaining league nights will be confirmed following Judgement Night as the remaining eight players will jostle for Play-Off places, whilst the full list of fixtures for the opening nine weeks can be viewed below.
