Subliminal Messaging

Subliminal messages can expose the brain to low-level images or visual information that passes below the limits of peoples’ perception. Research shows that in reducing stress and motivating people, subliminal messages are an effective tool.
Subliminal is known to help in working the subconscious mind when learning information without the need to focus or give full attention towards it. Moreover, it accesses the sense of hearing and sight to connect to the subconscious mind and to feed specific information without being noticed.
Nonetheless, the subliminal messaging is quite a new phenomenon, but is slowly starting to take over the internet. They are becoming recognized as a legitimate way to take control of your mind, and influence changes in your self beliefs, behavior, and even your core personality and nature. The subliminal messages are the positive affirmations that are based on the principles of NLP.

It works quite simply, the subliminal audio involves putting an album on and letting the messages flow into your subconscious mind. You will not be hearing any words as they are at a higher sound frequency which can only be picked up by your subconscious mind.

This is the reason why with subliminal messages, it is really possible to make personal development changes in a deep inner level. They avoid your conscious mind and go straightly into your deeper unconscious mind where you really need to make the change.

Subliminal messaging can be a truly effective way of tackling personal problems or any issues you does not know how to resolve. Moreover, if you have had difficulty in using conscious self helps methods or may have blockages in your subconscious, the subliminal messages can relatively sort this out quickly.

Subliminal messages have strong impact on human behavior and that is why in order to sell products, today, all forms of advertisements use this to influence their targeted audience. These subliminal audios are available in tapes, CDs and also in subliminal MP3. Therefore, to think faster, learn better and have more focus subliminal learning is very effective.

The subliminal parts of the subliminal audios are generally recorder by an individual who has an articulate and soothing voice. The audios are often added with captivating music with something called a 'binaural beats' that further aids on the procedure of learning and the imprint of the information on the subconscious mind. As an individual listens to the music and enjoys it to the fullest extent, he0she is not aware of the information that is being to the brain.

The method of learning occurs completely at a subconscious level without the individual giving much effort to understand the concepts. Many people prefer to use headphones while listening to theme music in their time of relaxation. This makes them forget the outside world for the time being and enter into the world of music. This is turn makes the individual acquire information by the positive learning affirmations entertaining the brain into the zone of the subconscious.

Visual subliminal messages are designed to be unnoticeable by the conscious mind, yet still perceived by the subconscious mind.
They are not consciously recognized because either the subliminal messages are camouflaged or presented so quickly that there is insufficient time for them to be comprehended.
The purpose of using them is to bypass the conscious mind and submit messages directly to the subconscious mind.
The reason for doing this is to influence the subconscious mind and introduce positive changes in a person’s beliefs and consequent behaviour.

Visual Subliminal Messages – Static and Dynamic Types

Dynamic visual subliminal messages are commonly presented as short text messages flashed at regular intervals on either a computer monitor or television screen.
The messages are presented rapidly, repeatedly and their content based on a particular subject of interest. In most cases, display of the subliminal messages is controlled by a computer software program.
The subliminal messages appear only for a fraction of a second so that the brain perceives them but there is no conscious awareness of them.
A static visual subliminal message is usually embedded within an unchanging viewable image. In this case the messages are visually masked so that there is no awareness of them. These images may be presented on a display screen or even in printed media.
In both static and dynamic types, the hidden message is masked by another more visually dominant image. This masking image is designed to act as a distraction so that no conscious attention is paid to the subliminal message.

Origins of Visual Subliminal Messages

Much of the original interest in using subliminal messages is based on an incident in 1957 at a New Jersey drive-in movie theater involving James Vicary, a marketing promoter.
He stated that by inserting images of soda and popcorn into frames of movie news reels, he observed a substantial increase in the  sales of both.
This became the basis for the controversial legendary effect of subliminal messages, even though there was at that time no real interest in what they were or how they could influence behaviour.
There was also no understanding of the differences between visual and audio subliminal messages.
In spite of the fact that Vicary later admitted his evidence was fabricated, he was highly instrumental in making subliminal persuasion a topic for public discussion and research.
Without him having done so, efforts in pursuing the effects of subliminal messaging may not have begun until years later.

How Visual Subliminal Messages Work

Both static and dynamic visual subliminal messages have one common characteristic. Although termed visual, they are ironically designed not to be recognized, but only perceived by the subconscious mind.
In the case of a static image that contains a hidden subliminal message, the message may not be noticeable even if it is viewed for many hours.
The subconscious mind has a much greater ability to understand the message.
Dynamic visual subliminal messages are presented as short phrases that can appear in any small area of the display almost imperceptibly.
The content of the messages is crucial and there are points that should be observed in creating subliminal messages properly, such as ensuring negative phrases are avoided (e.g. “I will not overeat”).
Video recordings available in DVD, VHS or MPG formats are static and are highly unlikely to contain visual subliminal messages.
However, it is more than possible to create them or modify existing recordings to embed persuasive messages in selective video frames.
In contrast, computer software programs are available that can present dynamic subliminal visual text messages. They are designed to present messages dynamically on a computer monitor without interfering with other tasks being performed.
Although audio subliminal messages are perceived at a slower rate than visual messages, no attention is required by the listener. The fact that the brain is designed to process images more rapidly is an advantage in using visual subliminal messages.
More visual information can be presented to the subconscious mind in a shorter period. The benefit is that it may take less time to introduce the subconscious changes desired, even though attention to the displayed messages is required.

Visual Subliminal Software Programs

Using a computer program to display visual subliminal messages allows other tasks to be performed at the same time, such as creating a document, a spreadsheet, or simply accessing information on the Internet.
Any subliminal software program should include certain features that are easy to use and effective. It should be possible to control the content of the messages, how long they are displayed, and how frequently they are presented.
The producer of the software should also provide various templates for desired goals (e.g. losing weight, self-esteem, etc.). A template contains a list of displayed subliminal text messages.
When selecting computer software that presents visual subliminal messages, attempt to ensure that it has at least all of the following characteristics:
  • Message templates should be provided
  • All messages should be editable
  • Screen presentation should be adaptable
  • Message location should be selectable as either random or static
  • Contrast controls should permit video adjustments
  • Interval timing of messages must be adjustable
  • Duration of messages must be adjustable
  • Characteristics of messages should be modifiable
  • Background music should be available
  • Control of message font size should be permitted
  • How the program starts up should be controllable
Visual messages can be presented faster than audio messages and are considered to be more effective.
This is because the visual system of the brain can absorb more information in less time.
Visual subliminal messages can be pre-recorded on video tape, DVDs or one of the available video file formats such as MPG.
There would be other static or dynamic images presented to mask the subliminal text messages.
These recordings can be replayed repeatedly but you have no control over the subliminal content or how its presented.
You can also choose subliminal software programs that give you the power to control the message content, the background music, displayed images or animations, timing and other features.
Audio subliminal or supraliminal messages do not require that you keep your eyes open. This is not possible with visual subliminal messages and you must be actively viewing the screen in order in order for the messages to be perceived.
For people that spend considerable time in front of a computer this is ideal because it doesn’t interfere with work or entertainment. Another benefit is that since the visual messages are displayed so quickly, other people will not notice that you are doing this.
Background music can always be turned off so that no one will be disturbed by it or you can use headphones. You can also listen to a different audio source that delivers subliminal or supraliminal messages at the same time.

Subliminal messages affect the subconscious mind. We’re talking visual messages that can be flashed very quickly in a film or buried within a print image and audio messages that are masked by other sounds, played below audible levels or recorded backwards to hide the message. True, scientific research has yet to determine the actual effectiveness of this process, but it’s still worth pointing out some interesting tidbits:
1. All the way back in 1897, The New Psychology published an article about how subliminal messages work. By World War II, a tachistoscope (a machine that projects images extremely briefly and rapidly) was used to teach soldiers how to recognize enemy planes.
2. James Vicary, a market researcher, caused a stir when he reported that he was able to increase popcorn sales at a New Jersey movie theatre through subliminal messages built into the movie. This led to the modern practice of subliminal advertising, despite that he admitted in 1962 that he was lying. Many still debate whether the experiment even took place!
3. A 1973 Christmas advertising campaign for the game HÅ«sker DÅ«? included the subliminal message “Get it.” Complaints flooded in and the FCC ran an investigation. It deemed subliminal messages “Contrary to public interest.” They were never actually banned in the USA, however the same commercial led to a ban in Canada.
4. In an effort to catch the BTK Killer in 1978, TV station KAKE-TV in Wichita obtained permission to run subliminal messages in a report about the BTK killings. The report included the subliminal message “Now call the chief.” No increased volume of tips was reported. The attempt was deemed unsuccessful.

5. George W. Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign included a television ad that featured words and parts of words scrolling across the screen. At one point, a single frame flashed the word “rats” (part of the word bureaucrats). After complaints, the FCC investigated but never assessed any penalties nor blame in the case.
6. On January 27, 2007, the McDonald’s logo appeared for a single frame during the Iron Chef America program on Food Network. This led to accusations of subliminal advertising. In a brilliant move, the Food Network said it was just “a glitch.”
7. Both Coke and Pepsi have been caught up in the subliminal messaging fray:
a) Feel The Curves – Coca Cola advertised in Australia with this poster during the eighties. That is, until someone discovered what could be seen in the ice cube on the right. I’ve blurred it out, but that’s not a bottle she’s going to put in her mouth! The artist was fired and sued. All posters were recalled and a new campaign was launched. b) In a promotional campaign by Pepsi in 1990, the company sold cans with a neon-design. If you stacked two of the cans and turned them just right, the word SEX became apparent.
8.
Ferrari’s Formula One car and its drivers’ jumpers have always been red and always carried the Marlboro logo—one of Ferrari racing’s largest corporate sponsor. However, a ban on tobacco advertising caused Ferrari and Marlboro to design a barcode style logo for the cars and jumpers in 2010. The design was quickly recognized as a subliminal advertisement for Marlboro cigarettes. Even after Ferrari removed the insignia, Marlboro pledged continued support for the team. However, without the benefit of advertising, the relationship between Ferrari racing and Marlboro started to erode.

I leave this Picture can you see anything in this?
