Which Social Media Sites to Use?


When designing or massaging your radio station’s social media campaign, you need to give some thought to which social media sites or services will perform the best for your market, format and your station’s listener base and target demographic.
  • What social media sites and services do your listeners use the most?
  • How old are your listeners? Are they more likely to use Twitter or Facebook? Both?
  • Do your listeners like to watch funny videos? Are you on YouTube?
  • How about sites like StumbleUpon? It’s one of the most popular search engines and someone might just stumble upon your station’s website.
  • Are there social media services that can work for your advertising clients’ benefit as well as yours? How about doing a FourSquare check-in contest where, if 100 people or more check in at your restaurant client everyone gets a free piece of pecan pie?
