Band Aid 30 confirms line-up: Adele, One Direction, Ed Sheeran and more

Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure have officially announced Band Aid 30.

A selection of current artists will re-record the 1984 charity single 'Do They Know It's Christmas?', with the original lyrics being altered to address the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

Adele, One Direction and Ed Sheeran are all confirmed to be taking part, alongside U2's Bono and Coldplay's Chris Martin.

Ellie Goulding, Olly Murs, Emeli Sandé, Sam Smith and Bastille will also be involved.

Tracey Emin will provide the single's artwork, while Adele producer Paul Epworth will work on the track.

2014 marks 30 years since Geldof and Ure wrote the original festive hit, created to raise money for the victims of the 1984 Ethiopian famine.

The charity single has already been updated twice since its creation, first in 1989 and again in 2004 - featuring artists such as Daniel Bedingfield, Joss Stone and Snow Patrol.

Recording on the track will take place this weekend (November 15), and will be available to download on Monday, November 17.

It will cost 99p to download the song, and £4 to buy the single. Money raised from the project will go towards the fight against Ebola.
