Take That to switch on Regent Street's Christmas lights

Take That are to switch on the Christmas lights on London's Regent Street this weekend.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald will attend the festive event on Sunday (November 16), which will be Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb-themed.

However, the trio are not expected to perform at the annual switch-on.

Heart presenters Jamie Theakston and Emma Bunton will host proceedings, and will be joined by Mark Wright, Jason Donovan, Jenni Falconer, Toby Anstis and JK and Lucy.

The festivities will begin at 4pm, with performances from boyband Union J, singer Jessie Ware, the cast of The Jersey Boys and Britain's Got Talent's Jack Pack.

The switch-on will take place at 5pm, followed by a fireworks display.

Take That said: "Turning on the Christmas lights in London is like the starter gun for the main event. It's the official start to the party season. We're really looking forward to flicking the switch on the Regent Street lights next Sunday."

Emma Bunton added: "Christmas is my favourite time of the year, so I can't wait to team up with Jamie and the other Heart presenters to start London's official countdown to the festive season. I'm also really looking forward to sharing the stage with the gorgeous Take That. Regent Street, get ready to scream!"

Living statues from Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb will come to life at sites across Regent Street, including Robin Williams's character Teddy Roosevelt, Steve Coogan's character Octavius, Dan Stevens's character Sir Lancelot, Owen Wilson's character Jedediah and Rami Malek's character, the Egyptian Pharaoh, Ahkmenrah.

Union J's Josh Cuthbert said: "It's such an honour for us to be part of the switch on that will officially launch Christmas across London. We're also really looking forward to performing our new single 'You Got It All' in front of all our fans on the world famous Regent Street."

Jessie Ware added: "I am extremely excited to be part of the Regent Street lights switch on with Heart and getting everyone in the mood for Christmas!"

Last week, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini switched on the Christmas lights at London's Oxford Street.
