Please note this post may be upsetting, if you are easily upset. Please be aware this is a story I wanted to share to highlight the dangers of the road even if it's a Police Car.
A 12-year-old girl has serious head injuries after being hit by a police car on its way to a crime scene.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were responding to a "violent incident" in Camborne, Cornwall, with the blue lights on.
The girl was flown to Bristol Children's Hospital by air ambulance following the crash on Trevenson Street at about 08:00 GMT.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed.
Supt Ian Drummond-Smith from Devon and Cornwall Police said the incident was "a police officer's worst nightmare".
He said: "This is a terrible incident for everyone involved and we deeply apologise that this has happened and all of our thoughts are with the child and her family at this difficult time."
Devon and Cornwall Police said "senior officers from a neighbouring force" were at the scene and an investigation had been launched.
