The only real memory I have of it is hiding under a table and feeling really stressed out. Most of primary school was distressing and all I remember is that I really hated it. I really couldn't deal with being in a classroom with other people all day, when all I wanted was to be alone. I didn't know how to talk to people or make friends and being close to others made me very uncomfortable. I began to run out of class to be alone, which was so much easier and much more fun. While we spend much time ‘making up’ our faces to ensure our appearance is beautiful for others, we forget to make up our minds. This is not about making decisions. Making up our mind means ensuring that our thoughts are positive and our feelings towards others are filled with good wishes. When we do, others begin to sense a deeper beauty emanating from behind the skin! This is inner beauty. Don’t hide behind your face. Let the real you show through.

Free yourself from forcing, expecting or wanting someone to receive what you think they should take – it could be your idea, opinion, or an opportunity you think they should accept – you can’t make anyone take anything – your own experience probably confirms this. Offer humbly. Offer gently. Offer as if you are a master, and then let go, and retire like a shy child. When you can dance the dance between being master and child, you’ll be surprised how much more others will accept what you have to say, and how much more they appreciate your offerings.

The first of Greater Anglia’s brand new Swiss trains has now arrived in East Anglia. The four-carriage bi-mode train, which will ultimately run on regional lines across the Greater Anglia network arrived on Thursday 15th November. It was hauled to Norwich by a class 66 locomotive and will now undergo a programme of testing around the network before it is passed as ready to go into service. Ian McConnell, Greater Anglia Franchising and Programmes Director said: “It’s so exciting to see one of our new trains here in East Anglia. McGill’s, Scotland’s largest independent bus operator, has confirmed an order for 26 Alexander Dennis Enviro200 single deck buses as part of its continued investment in its modern fleet. They will be built to Low Emission Bus standards with Euro 6 engines and ADL’s SmartPack efficient diesel technology, and will be delivered by the end of March 2019. The order includes 11 Enviro200 in 10.4m length as well as 15 to a length of 11.5m. The longer vehicles will have high-backed seats with the McGill’s logo embroidered into the headrest, and will be fitted with USB charging ports to keep passengers’ mobile devices powered. Every Sunday morning I take a light jog around a park near my home.  There’s a lake located in one corner of the park.  Each time I jog by this lake, I see the same elderly woman sitting at the water’s edge with a small metal cage sitting beside her. This past Sunday my curiosity got the best of me, so I stopped jogging and walked over to her.  As I got closer, I realized that the metal cage was in fact a small trap.  There were three turtles, unharmed, slowly walking around the base of the trap.  She had a fourth turtle in her lap that she was carefully scrubbing with a spongy brush. “Hello,” I said.  “I see you here every Sunday morning.  If you don’t mind my nosiness, I’d love to know what you’re doing with these turtles.” She smiled.  “I’m cleaning off their shells,” she replied.  “Anything on a turtle’s shell, like algae or scum, reduces the turtle’s ability to absorb heat and impedes its ability to swim.  It can also c...

Meditation is the process of getting to know yourself completely, both who you are inside and how you react to what is outside. Above all, meditation is enjoying yourself in the literal sense of the word. Through meditation, you discover a very different “me” from perhaps the stressed or troubled person, who may seem superficially to be “me”. You realize that your true nature, the real you, is actually very positive. You begin to discover an ocean of peace right on your doorstep.

Many say our world needs more kindness. But what does it really mean to be kind? Is it just being nice instead of being mean? Being nice doesn’t sound world changing to me. True kindness must be something deeper. CHANGING THE WORLD THROUGH KINDNESS I delved into the meaning of kindness when I discovered a thing called World Kindness Day. It was started by the World Kindness Movement in 1997. Its mission is to inspire individuals and nations to create a kinder world through establishing independent kindness programs and projects in cities, schools, and communities across the globe.
