Thought of the Day: Determination and Patience

Image
Determination is the strength that will enable you to pass the barrier of useless thoughts in order to create positive thoughts and to be successful in whatever you wish. It comes from within and its partner is patience. Patience teaches you not to push but rather to wait and appreciate the game of life instead, knowing that nothing remains the same, and everything will change at some point.

Thought of the Day: Self Mastery

Image
Within each one of us there is a master of the universe. Not the universe out there but the inner universe of our thoughts and feelings, attitudes and actions. Most people realise too late what awaits within and how valuable it is. For too long we allow ourselves to be distracted and bewitched by all that is happening outside. To be the master of your inner world is to be the master of your own destiny. Are you going to be the master or a slave?

Book at Bedtime for Kids: The Sneaky Mouse

Image
One day a mouse saw some cheese on the table but there was a cat in the house. So the mouse needed a plan to get the cat away from the table. His first idea was to make the cat chase him and then hide but then he thought of a safer idea, to go to the cat's toy basket and wind the cat's toy mouse up and make a squeak and let the toy mouse go. So while the cat was chasing the toy mouse the real mouse climbed on the table. When he was about to climb back down the cat came back to the kitchen to drink. So he needed another plan to get rid of the cat. His plan was to knock a cup of water over on the cat. Just then he saw the cat go to sleep. So he went back to the cat's toy basket and got some yarn and went back to the table and tied it to the cheese and lowered the cheese to the ground. Then he started pulling, but it was too hard to pull. So he got 112 mice to help him pull it to their hole in the wall. When they got there they had a nice meal together. * The End

Thought of the Day: Attachment

Image
The root of suffering is attachment. You have created a space in your mind that holds a person or object as part of you. When that person or object is criticized, neglected or not with you, you feel pain in your mind and you experience a sense of loss. If you want to be happy, you must learn to love and appreciate while remaining independent.

What is Meow Chat? Your guide to the new app that EVERYONE's getting invited to

Image
Chances are, you woke up this morning to a Facebook notification inviting you to download an app called Meow Chat. But what on earth is it, and should you download it? If you woke up this morning to see a flood of Facebook notifications inviting you to download something called Meow Chat, you're not alone. It seems this relatively little known instant messaging app has got a little invitation-happy in the last day or so, with people getting dozens of messages from friends encouraging them to download it. But what on earth is Meow Chat? And should you download it? It's either the biggest thing since WhatsApp or a source of intense irritation - here's everything you need to know. What is Meow Chat? It's kind of a cross between an instant messaging app - like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger - and a dating app. It lets you swap text and picture messages with friends, or hook up with random people. And as the name suggests, there are a lot o...

How to Have a Life on a Busy Schedule

Whether you work outside the home, inside the home or both, you may have little time for yourself amidst your work, family and household chores. Use these strategies to enjoy your life and fill it with memorable moments even as you're keeping up the hectic pace. Instructions 1 Make an appointment with yourself in advance as a trick to ensure you get some down time each week. If you don't slot a spot to spend the day goofing off with your kids or going to lunch with your significant other, you probably won't do it once your appointment book is full. 2 Sacrifice an item on your "to do" list if an opportunity for fun or relaxation presents itself. If a friend invites you to the movies at the last minute, for example, be flexible enough to let the laundry sit for an extra day or complete your project when you get home that night instead of tackling it in the afternoon. 3  Examine you and your family's goals to discover your priority activi...

Book at Bedtime for Kids: Fantasy

Image
Don't tell anyone this but I'm a fairy. Nobody knows you see because I never transform around other people. My name is Pixie and I am a green fairy. You see in the fairy tribe I come from they have three different types of fairies: the purple fairy, the green fairy and the yellow fairy. The purple fairies are the queen fairies the fairies that live inside the Queen fairies castle. The green fairies are just normal fairies and the yellow fairies are people such as nurse fairies etc... I am glad I am a green fairy because I get to do whatever I like and I have a really nice fairy house inside a giant mushroom. I usually transform at night when nobody is around. I started transforming into a fairy one day when I was about 9 and I think it was because I ate this crab apple and you're not supposed to eat them! I am 11 now so that was 2 years ago. Now that I'm a fairy it gives me the ability to fly around which is great because at night I go to all my friends houses ...

Busy Week this last Week

Image
This last week has been too busy, it’s felt like I have lots to do and my diary is full and yet I’m nowhere near as busy as my life once was. Busy weeks are something which I have learnt to try and avoid for with them comes additional concerns and chaos.  The more busy my diary is and the more things I have to attend, the less time I have to give to my al ters, the different parts of me. That has been the case so far this week, less internal dialogue, less art and less Blog time. Of course there is an impact upon me when I neglect these things and I’m starting to notice that. Emotional overloads, switching and losing time all feel as if they are gaining speed and momentum these last few days. There is much more intensity with it all and yet I’m trying hard to keep fulfilling the plans in my jam packed diary. So you are wondering what have I been up to. This last week since Saturday has been manic as I have been helping Penwith Radio with their ongoing work in going on FM. Vi...

In life you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say “Hello”.

Does the Internet Bring Us Closer Together?

Whatever your views on the internet, there is no doubt that its influence is ever-growing and that more and more people are using it as time goes by – there are currently over 1.6 billion users of the World Wide Web. As internet use increases, there is a growing debate about whether or not it actually helps to bring people closer together. Certainly when web designers create websites, it is often for companies who are looking to reach out to their customers and keep them up to date with what their business is working on, suggesting the intention to bring people closer together is there in theory. So does this actually work, or does the internet only serve to isolate us? The Internet brings us closer together Probably the best argument in favour of the internet bringing people closer together is the fact it is a global phenomenon. People from all over the world are online, sharing content and using the same websites. This gives both individuals and businesses more opportuniti...

10,000 Thank Yous

I’m not one particularly given to blog stat pron, but today I had my 10,000th page hit, which I think is a bit of a milestone for this humble blog.  Cou ntless  ministers will  tell yo u “Its not about th e num bers”, as they look w istful ly at the emp ty cha irs, the static attendance a nd th e growing church down the r oad. One Is One: Prince George's First Birthday

Image
William and Kate have released two new family photographs to mark Prince George's first birthday. And the couple have taken the opportunity to thank everyone in the past year for their "warm and generous wishes". Taken in recent weeks at the Natural History Museum's Sensational Butterflies exhibition, the photos show the one-year-old reaching out, seemingly mesmerised by the butterflies around him. In the second of two portraits, the third-in-line to the throne is reaching out to touch a butterfly which had landed on his father's hand. The prince appears beguiled by flying insects And like most mums, the Duchess of Cambridge seems completely at ease with a large patch of dribble her son had deposited on her shoulder. On Saturday, Kensington Palace released a third photo from the Cambridge family outing to the museum, of which the Duchess is patron. It showed the future king walking unaided in a pair of blue dungarees. Prince George appear...

12 Relationship Truths I Wish I Knew 12 Years Ago

Image
Twelve years ago I was nineteen and just entering my second year at college.  Since then, friends and acquaintances have come and gone, girlfriends have come and gone, I’ve found through my years – through my experience with my own personal relationships – that there are certain undeniable truths that affect the quality and longevity of our relationships, and the resulting impact they have on us.  I share them with you today in hopes that they save you from a little heartache and confusion. You have to love yourself first. – In order to truly have a loving, supportive, and long-lasting relationship with someone else, you need to learn how to be your own best friend first.  It’s all about falling in love with yourself and sharing that love with someone who appreciates you, rather than looking for love to compensate for a self love deficit.   You get what you put in.  – In twelve years, people won’t remember what clothes you wore, which car you drove,...

Chip shops are preserving regional dialects

With more than three quarters* of us believing it is important to preserve regional dialects and accents, research has shown that chip shops across the country are the surprising heroes of local language. A study into chip eating habits, commissioned for National Chip Week, shows that the chip shop provides more than just a great portion of chips. In fact, the research showed that one in six people claim the chip shop is actually the place they are most likely to see or hear regional words and phrases. We know the perfect portion of chips start with perfect potatoes, but did you know it also starts with ‘tats’, ‘tatties’, ‘taters’, ‘tatoes’, or even ‘teddies’? Would you know the difference between a ‘poke of chips’, ‘potato dabs’ and a ‘potato scallop’? Or be able to identify a ‘fish lot’ from ‘fish and nerks’? What are ‘bits’ or ‘scratchings’? And what are you getting with your chips when you order ‘patties’, ‘rissoles’, or a ‘white pudding supper’? Jonathan Robinson, Lead Content...
