Bus operator First South West will run the Truro park and ride service from September, it has been announced. The Langarth to city centre service, currently operated by Western Greyhound, began in 2008, carrying about two million passengers in the last five years. The service is used by commuters, shoppers and visitors, taking an estimated 550 vehicles off the roads around the city centre each day. First was awarded the five-year contract by Cornwall Council following a tender process after the initial five-year deal expired.  The company will begin running the service from Monday, September 2. Managing director for First South West Alex Carter said: “First is thrilled to win the tender to operate the Truro park and ride service. After my conversation with Les Merton of which I amended his Wiki Page (with his permission) Les pointed me in the direction of Poetry.
