Thought of the Day: Lasting Happiness

Image
The real reason why we sometimes experience a lack of real, deep lasting happiness in our lives is dependency. We are taught to make our happiness dependent on some event, condition, person, object etc. This is why we keep delaying our happiness until things are just right in our life. We think we will be happy in the future and then wonder why we are not happy now. But life is never just right, and the future never comes – there is only now! And that’s why, in order to be happy we must make our happiness a decision and not a dependency. This may seem slightly difficult in the beginning, because we have just spent our life being dependent on acquiring something or someone, or seeing the result we desired, or wanting some pain to go away, before we allow ourselves to be happy.

Thought of the Day: True Winning Is Accepting Not Resisting

Image
If you ever find yourself defending a position, explaining why, or justifying anything, it means you have been defeated. It means you have not been able to accept the others point of view, or the fact that you may be wrong. Fear has conquered your mind and your heart. Your defences are up and you are running scared. It’s not that the other person has conquered you, it’s the self-created fear that is in control. Until you can accept the other (you don’t have to agree) and you are not threatened by the other, your victories will be delayed. It’s a funny old world when true winning is accepting not resisting, when victory is found in the wisdom to stop fighting and to begin engaging.

Penwith Radio 96.5 & 97.2 FM: The Dawn of a New Era

What is a dream? What is a dream? A dream is a goal, An inspiration, A dream is where Hope lives A dream is something to chase when life drags us down, A dream is a song in the wilderness, Good flowering from the mud of evil. That is a dream. Get yourself a dream, Touch God and pray And never, ever let your dream get away.  With you, my dearest, my dream is always near. Thank you very much.   4 years ago I had a vision, that vision was a dream but so real. I was 26 years old and life  as I knew it was  evolving around. Community Radio was fairly new to me and all I knew of  Radio stations was the BBC  National Stations and one local BBC Cornwall , there was also 2  local independent stations originally just the one. My skills were very unknown in the art  of  media, yes like most  of you I often pretended to be a Radio Presenter by making mix  tapes and passing them  onto family members. But tha...

Thought of the Day: Hear No Evil …

Image
Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, think no evil. Don’t engage yourself in thinking about others because of jealousy. If anyone tells you wrong things about others, then hear but don’t hear. Don’t speak about such things and spoil the hearts of others.

What is Hyperlapse? Instagram's new app explained

Image
Time lapse photography is something that has been around for a long time. Traditionally however it requires you to have a tripod and the ability to stand still for hours on end. Now, however, things have changed thanks to Instagram and its clever Hyperlapse app. The application lets you capture time lapse videos while you walk about, using a clever algorithm that will stitch all the images together and remove as much judder as possible. Unlike Instagram, which is a social network, Hyperlapse is more of a photographic tool. Videos can of course be shared to Instagram, but Hyperlapse exists as a separate application altogether. Using the app is easy. It's simply a case of opening it up and then hitting the big record button at the bottom of the application. Instagram has kept things as simple as possible, so other than a tap to focus function, the app does little else in terms of letting you tweak exposure or apply filters. One tap of the record button will start your Hyperlapse...

Apple officially announces September 9 event for iPhone 6

Image
Apple  has finally sent out invites for the launch of its latest iPhone handset. As previously reported, the company will hold an event on September 9 where the iPhone 6 and an iWatch smartwatch are expected to be revealed. Exact details about what Apple will unveil are scarce, as per usual Apple protocol. The invite simply reads "We wish we could say more", along with the date. Earlier this month, images were leaked of what appeared to be a fully assembled iPhone 6, which is expected to feature thin, curved edges. It is also thought that the device will come with a reversible USB cable, and will ship with a maximum 128GB of storage. Wise Words for You will be covering the event as it happens on September 9 with all the latest news from Cupertino. iPhone 6 - leaked images: Copyright: Imgur/Rou-Shot

Thought of the Day: Healing

Image
I gently return to equilibrium, nurtured by a well spring of love. I, the soul, am washed and soothed by the quiet energies of stillness. Embracing the vastness of my inner landscape, I understand the cycles of growth and decay. Today I will fix something broken, or find a new use for it.

Thought of the Day: Keep It Simple

Image
With so many choices and decisions, so many demands from people and events, in our modern fast changing world, it’s a real challenge to ‘keep it simple’. Making it simple means making things easy and clear. The magic wand to wave over your life is ‘planning and prioritising’. Make plans, long and short term and then prioritise. Then practise taking one thing at a time, so you can have one thought at a time, with some space before you have to have your next thought. But don’t get attached to your plans or priorities. Be flexible (easy) and yet focused (clear) and in this way you can teach yourself to think simply and act simply. One thought at a time. At your own pace. In your own space. A simple life is a contented life.

Thought of the Day: Optimistic Outlook

Image
Optimism opens a door in difficult or hopeless situations. No matter what the crisis, an optimist maintains the outlook that it is a sign, time for a different way of thinking, or of doing things. Sometimes the signal has to be very clear even harsh, otherwise we may continue in self-delusion and not wake up. Of course if we lack optimism, instead of taking this signal as a step towards renaissance, complaint, resentment or even desperation will emerge.

Ice Bucket Challenge: Jeremy Clarkson

Image
Top Gear 's  Jeremy Clarkson  is the latest celebrity to take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The presenter was captured sleeping out in his backyard, before his daughter Emily Clarkson awakened him with a blast of ice cold water over his head. warning  - mature language in the video below Clarkson took the ice dousing in good humour, and later used Twitter to challenge  Top Gear  co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May to make their own ice bucket videos. The viral ALS Ice Bucket Challenge campaign has  raised more than $41.8 million (£24.6m)  for those who suffer from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. And now as you seen some of the best from celebrities, the best is yet to come, yes my time has come and in the next hour I will have undertaken the #icebucketchallenge

The 30-year-old was challenged by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to take on the ice bucket challenge to raise money for the ALS Foundation - which raises awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. After dousing himself with a bucket of iced water, Zuckerberg said: "That was really cold." Ice Bucket Challenge: George W Bush

Image
George W Bush  has completed the Ice Bucket Challenge - but didn't seem to have much choice in the matter. The former US president's wife, Laura Bush, drenched her husband with icy cold water, as he was sat writing a cheque to go towards the fundraising effort. George was challenged by a number of stars, including his daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, to take on the challenge. The cause aims to raise awareness for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or motor neurone disease), a terminal illness that weakens and stiffens muscles. The challenge involves people having a bucket of freezing water poured over them, while also nominating others to follow suit. "To you all that challenged me, I do not think it's presidential for me to be splashed with ice water, so I'm simply going to write you a cheque," George said, before being soaked by his wife. She added jokingly: "That cheque is for me. I wouldn't ruin my hairstyle." After drying off, George challen...

Ice Bucket Challenge: Morph

You've seen a million ice bucket challenges by now - but the cutest one ever has to involve classic  Hartbeat  and  Take Hart  character  Morph . The loveable television character is the latest to help raise awareness and funds for those suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Morph cheerfully delivers his usual brand of gibberish, before being doused with ice-cold water in the clip.

Thought of the Day: I am Love

Image
We seek it here, we seek it there, we look for love everywhere! We expect it to come to us, usually through another person. All our conditioning says it is something that happens to us. The mythology of our fables, legends and modern day entertainment industries say it is something we ‘fall into’. And yet…and yet real love cannot be acquired, possessed or accumulated. It cannot be known when we think it comes from outside ourselves. The ultimate paradox is we are it. We are love. Each one of us is a source of love that has forgotten that ‘love is what I am’. Say it now “I am love”. Doesn’t feel right does it? That’s because its been so long since we knew and experienced ourselves in this true way. And yet we all know that the deepest trust and the purest love is known and experienced only when we give it, not take it. As we give love in whatever way is appropriate, we are the ones to experience it first, on the way out. Falling in love is impossible. It is only infatuation, obsession...

Ice Bucket Challenge: Jose Mourinho

Image
You're probably as sick of watching Ice Bucket Challenge videos as we are of embedding them, but (i) it's for a good cause and (ii) some are just  begging  to be shared. Like this video below, featuring love-him-or-hate-him Chelsea Football Club manager  Jose Mourinho . It's amazingly rewatchable, not just because of his incredible scream as he gets soaked, but because of his nominations. After getting the call from Lebo Mohuba and returning Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, we still can't believe that he resisted the urge to give a shout to FA Cup winner Arsène Wenger. Instead, he nominated his daughter Matilde, and friends Bryan Adams (BRYAN ADAMS?!) and James McAvoy (JAMES McAVOY?!?!?) to do their bit for the ALS Foundation. The  ALS Foundation  aims to boost research for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known in the UK as  motor neurone disease .

Ice Bucket Challenge: Simon Cowell

Image
Simon Cowell  has taken on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Filmed on his yacht, the  X Factor judge can't stop giggling as he awaits being soaked in freezing water. The businessman nominated his fellow judges Louis Walsh, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B to complete the challenge within 24 hours. The challenge aims to raise awareness for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or motor neurone disease), a terminal illness that weakens and stiffens muscles. The challenge involves people having a bucket of freezing water poured over them, while also nominating others to follow suit.

Ice Bucket Challenge: Susanna Reid & Ben Shepherd

Image
Good Morning Britain 's  Susanna Reid  and Ben Shephard became the latest celebrities to take on the Ice Bucket Challenge, tackling the freezing cold stunt on live breakfast TV this morning. Reid and Shephard both got drenched after being nominated for the challenge by  Good Morning Britain  weather presenter Laura Tobin. After having the icy water poured over them, Reid quickly nominated her  co-presenter Sean Fletcher and  This Morning 's Ruth Langsford to take on the challenge next. Langsford has agreed to take part in the task alongside her husband Eamonn Holmes, although he may be surprised when he finds out what his wife has signed him up for. The Ice Bucket Challenge is a craze started in America that is raising money for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association.
