The ability to enjoy one’s own company is one of the greatest gifts life has to offer. Learning to turn my thoughts away from all my responsibilities at the day’s end and take my mind into a state of peace and benevolence enables me to carry greater and greater loads without feeling the burden. When my inner landscape is full of beautiful thoughts, everything I do is a pleasure. Gently, I calm down chaotic situations and offer solace to troubled minds.

Desires cause peace to disappear. You think that acquiring things will make you feel secure, but the reality is that the more you have the more fear there usually is of losing it, and the further you are from peace. Desires are the cause of all conflicts. When you want something and cannot get it you become frustrated. Learning to be free from desires is learning how to stay peaceful.

First Glasgow have launched 10 new ultra-low emission vehicles for their premium Glasgow Airport Express service as part of the on-going investment plans, which provides a 24/7 fast and frequent link from the city centre to the airport. The 10 new Enviro400 City double decker buses built by Alexander Dennis in Falkirk will double the capacity on these popular services. The new vehicles have been in operation on the 500 service from Sunday, April 14th serving one of the busiest airports in the UK. The buses come with luxury double padded seating, free 4G WIFI, USB charging points as well as new state-of-the-art wireless charging facilities on both the tables and seatbacks, luggage racks and most important of all, ultra-low emission Euro VI diesel engines. For example, in a situation where hurtful or angry words were exchanged, why not see it as the chance either to perceive things about your own character which need changing or to rehearse some virtue or quality that you need to put into practice more often? Actually we should be grateful for the opportunity to evaluate ourselves. In this way you can transform anything into a constructive lesson. Never think that you’ve learned enough and now can stop. You should love it when people try to correct you or give you advice. It keeps you alert and give you plenty of opportunity to put your truth into practice.

A normal flight to Jamaica turned into a life-saving endeavor after two anesthesiologists created a makeshift medical ventilator to save an elderly woman who had gone into respiratory arrest. Matthew Stevenson and John Flanagan were on a JetBlu flight in January when the senior started having trouble breathing. A nurse who also happened to be aboard the plane tried to help the woman recover – but nothing would relieve the breathing distress. When Stevenson saw what was going on, he flagged down Flanagan for help. They asked the flight crew if they had a hand-operated manual resuscitator on board to pump oxygen into her lungs. Because they did not, the doctors resolved to build their own. As Flanagan conducted CPR on the woman, Stevenson reportedly cut off the tubing and airbag from one of the plane’s emergency masks in the ceiling and connected them to an on-board oxygen tank. A quick-thinking train passenger is being hailed for rescuing 26 Indian girls from the clutches of two human traffickers Adarsh Shrivastava was on a train that was traveling through Uttar Pradesh last week when he noticed something strange about his fellow passengers. His train cabin was filled with girls between the ages of 10 and 14 – and almost all of them were visibly distressed. Some of the youngsters were even crying. Sensing that something was afoot, Shrivastava pulled out his phone, created a new Twitter account, and sent several messages detailing the situation to railway and law enforcement authorities, saying that he suspected the girls to be victims of human trafficking. Upon writing out his cabin and train number, the Good Samaritan only had to wait thirty minutes before the Ministry of Railways Twitter account responded to the message. A puppy that suffered an unfortunate injury has been given a lucky break, thanks to some guys on their mountain bikes who happened to find it in the woods. Jarrett Little and a few other cyclists were riding through a forested area in Columbus, Georgia when they stopped to take a break. As they recuperated, a dog limped out of the woods. Jarrett suspects that the dog had been hit by a car because it was malnourished, and it was sporting road rash and a broken leg. After he and his friends gave the dog some food and water, they puzzled over how to help the dog. Since they were in the woods, they couldn’t get a car in to escort the canine to safety, yet they didn’t want to leave it alone in the forest either. After the small town of Paradise, California, was nearly wiped out by wildfires last week, the local high school girl’s volleyball team was still determined to play their semifinal championship match last Saturday—despite having no uniforms or equipment after having evacuating quickly with only the clothes on their back. But the opposing team from Forest Lake Christian High School in Auburn was waiting with a big surprise. Within 24 hours, they had collected donations of $16,000 and when the girls from Paradise Adventist Academy showed up, they were greeted with new custom uniforms, knee pads, and socks—and a whole lot of love. Not only that, a $300 gift card was provided for each player, along with truck loads of supplies and clothing for their families. When a thief stole Amanda Needham’s bike from the front of her home, she left a giant angry sign in its place as an expression of frustration. Though she was not expecting anything to come from the sign, she was surprised when it spurred several strangers to knock on her door. Needham’s trusty bike was stolen last Saturday night while it was chained up in front of her home in Brooklyn. Heartbroken by the injustice, she left a note for the thief in bright yellow paint on a piece of cardboard eight feet wide. The note read: “To the person who stole my bicycle. When he quickly popped into a shop, he walked up to the counter and found himself waiting behind a woman who had approached the cashier before him. Sensing his anxiety, the woman told Walshaw to go ahead of her. With two minutes to spare, he bought a ticket for the raffle. He thanked the woman and left. Thanks to that small act of kindness, Walshaw was able to buy a multi-million dollar winning ticket.

After a father gave a good-natured response to a text from a wrong number, donations have started pouring in for his son’s cancer treatment. It all started when a woman named Syd accidentally texted Tony Wood with a picture of herself wearing an evening gown in a department store. Wood, who is a father of six kids in Spring Hill, Tennessee, responded to the photos by saying: “I believe this message was intended for someone else. My wife isn’t home, so I couldn’t get her opinion, but the kids and I think you look stunning in your dress! An empathetic employee is being hailed for delivering more than just packages to a Mississippi family – more specifically, he went out of his way to deliver a box to a 6-year-old boy. Wendy Bailey of Rankin County recently made a Facebook post about how her son Brandon had been waiting for their family’s new refrigerator to be delivered to their house so he could use the box to build a fort. For two weeks, Brandon patiently waited for the exalted delivery. With that mighty cardboard structure, he would be able to fly a spaceship, hide in a secret getaway, traverse the galaxy of the imagination – anything his heart desired. When the fridge finally arrived, however, there was no box. While airports might typically act as a spark plug for stress, they can also be places where strangers assist during the worst moments of travel anxiety. One such incident happened to Beth Bornstein Dunnington when she was flying out of Los Angeles earlier this month. The mom from Waimea, Hawaii was at LAX waiting to board her flight to Portland. As she was in the departure area alongside a crowd of other travelers waiting for their own flights, she saw a mother who was having some problems with her son. Plans to introduce new rapid buses linking Walsall and Birmingham are back on after pressure from residents forced them to be re-drawn. The West Midlands Combined Authority's plan to introduce Sprint buses on the A34, passing through Great Barr, had hit the buffers after hundreds of people complained about possible congestion and a loss of parking. But transport bosses have now re-drawn the plans, and hope to have the buses up and running in time for the Commonwealth Games in 2022. The new and updated plans propose to keep most, if not all, of the parking bays outside homes and businesses on the Walsall Road as well as aim to reduce congestion at the Scott Arms junction. Work is also underway to introduce a park and ride facility on the road.
