At  WWDC 2023 , Apple rolled out big updates to its software portfolio. From iPhones to Macs and iPads to Watches, all the devices are getting new updates with a slew of added features. This is especially true of the  watchOS 10  update coming to the Apple Watch. The upcoming Apple Watch operating system includes redesigned apps, a variety of new watch faces, and a new Smart Stack to show relevant widgets right when they’re needed. Apple is also adding features to make use of the speed sensors and cadence sensors, which come in handy for cyclists. There are new Compass Waypoints and Maps capabilities for hikers. Apple has given us the first official look at watchOS 10, the software that will arrive on your current  Apple Watch  — and the next versions to be announced — later in 2023. The software has been shown off on stage at this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference ( WWDC 2023 ) keynote, with various features being highlighted during the presentation. So what’s new? New look for apps and widgets Apple Apple’s watchOS 10 is getting a significant visual update, with most of the commonly accessed standard apps being redesigned — including the Weather app, Stocks, Messages, World Clock, the Apple Maps app, and the main Phone app. The Activity app will be redesigned with new sharing features, more Apple Fitness+ integration, and a better-looking trophy case. Apple announced a slew of updates to iOS — the operating system for iPhones — at  WWDC 2023 . With  iOS 17 , the company is rolling out features to not only apps like Phone, Messages, Safari, and Maps, but it’s also updating AirDrop to make it even better.  But with every new iOS update, it begs an important question: Will my iPhone be updated? At its annual  WWDC 2023  conference, Apple introduced the latest iteration of its tablet operating system.  Say hello to iPadOS 17, which is going to be out in the fall with some notable features updates in tow. For starters, a handful of  iOS 17  tricks are also making their way to iPadOS 17. The Health app comes to iPad Apple Starting with the most notable addition, the Health app has finally made its way to Apple’s tablet. In fact, the company is promising that the Health app will make better use of the larger screen real estate provided by an iPad. Big lock screen and widget upgrades Apple is also bringing some of the lock screen customization and widget tricks from iOS 16 to iPadOS 17 this year. Apple is adding a new first-party app called Journal with the introduction of iOS 17, the company announced today during WWDC 2023. Journal is, as its name simply states, a new place for iPhone users to keep track of their daily activities, log their emotional health, and jot down anything else that they want to write about. Apple has continued to lean into its first-party health and wellness iOS apps with things like Fitness, Sleep, and Breathe, and now Journal will be joining their ranks as the company’s first attempt at an app that focuses on mental well-being.
