Wise Words for You

Nan doing what she loved best, tending to her Garden Inspiration is everywhere — from the words of your favourite writer to the blooms and leaves on your morning walk. You just need to open your eyes, and breathe it in. Sometimes it helps to talk to others who are creative to get ideas about what gets their creativity juices flowing.  When I was younger my Inspiration was my Nan, she inspired me to do something good, she said I was good on computers and writing I was always strong at. So to celebrate her life and four years on from her death, I surfed high and low to find something that truly reflects what an inspiration she is and always will be to me. This blog as a whole is in honour of both her, Grandad and my Great Nan. I love them all and to Uncle Tom (also no longer with us) I thank him also for sitting down with me to show me the benefits of computing. The maiden flight of the Airlander 10 took place on August 17th from the historic Cardington Airfield in Bedfordshire. The helium-filled craft aims to kickstart a new age of the airship. All objectives of the planned flight were accomplished and the aircraft is now safely back at its masting site. At 92m long and 43.5m wide, this is the world’s largest aircraft, dwarfing heavyweights such as the Airbus A380 “superjumbo”. It is cheaper, too, with a price of £25m, compared with $375m (£287m) for an A380. It can also carry a 10-tonne payload, comparable with military transport helicopters such as the Boeing CH-47 Chinook, the US Air Force’s workhorse of choice. Potential uses include tourist pleasure cruises, cargo transport and disaster relief. Intuition is the discerning of a refined intellect. We all have the capacity for intuition, but we find it hard to cultivate and exercise this capacity as we are mostly encouraged to keep our awareness focused on the surface events and activities of life around us. Intuition is that voice of innate wisdom which can speak to us at any moment. It is the core of our self, of our consciousness, a touchstone which is always true and trustworthy, as long as the voice is not distracted or disturbed by the many voices of our ego, or others egos, which we allow to reside like ghosts within our consciousness. Learning to listen to and trust our intuition means we must be able to recognise these voices and ruthlessly ignore their deviations and temptations. You may have noticed men with just a single painted fingernail and thought to yourself what a silly new trend, truth is though there is a lot of meaning behind the single painted nail and it’s important to know what that meaning is. This trend for men only, started in Australia and has now made its way to the States. The colour of the paint and the choice of nail is irrelevant, it all represents the same. The movement began with Elliot Costello, after meeting Thea, a little girl, on his travels around the world to help underprivileged areas with Hagar International. While in Cambodia the little girl and Elliot became friends doing unlikely things together, things little Thea loved, like painting her nails. Subway trains in Scotland’s largest city could run into the small hours to boost Glasgow’s burgeoning night-time economy. Extending the service after midnight will be possible after the system’s £288 million upgrade is completed.  It would give clubbers and other late-night revellers an alternative to lengthy taxi queues and infrequent night buses. Glasgow’s night-time economy generates £2.16 billion for the city and supports 16,000 jobs, the first study of its kind showed in June. These figures take into account activity in restaurants, bars, clubs and fitness centres.  News of the plans comes as the first 24-hour London Underground trains were launched on Friday night. It is the art of living, the purpose of our existence. Happiness is the true index of quality of life. Without happiness, life is dry and meaningless. With happiness, life immediately becomes fulfilling and wonderful. Happiness is an infectious feeling that immediately lifts the sagging spirits of people. Happy people keep themselves happy because they know the little ways to appreciate themselves and to see the humour and magic in each moment.

Casualty  is 30. It’s a truly impressive achievement whichever way you look at it and of course the show decided to celebrate this milestone in the sort of style you could only expect from the world’s longest running medical-drama. Originally devised by Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin in 1986,  Casualty  has evolved significantly over the years. Where once it was politically-charged drama fighting the good fight; today it focuses more on the hopes and fears of the Emergency Department staff, their patients and the everyday events that affect them. That’s not to say  Casualty  has lost the ability to produce fascinating hard-hitting drama. To forgive and forget is to reflect love. Situations pass, they cease to exist, but they continue to be alive in the mind. Open your heart and be generous, free yourself from that sorrow, forgive and forget and you will live every moment in peace.

There are no justified resentments. To resent someone is to fall under the illusion that they are the cause of our suffering. No one can die from a snake bite. It’s the poison that kills them. You may receive the poison of another’s words, or even just in a glance, but you don’t have to absorb it or allow it free passage through the veins of your consciousness. The consequence of not absorbing the poison of others is you never experience enmity towards others. And people notice when you have absolutely no enmity. My mother had only one eye. When I was growing up, I hated her for it. I hated the uninvited attention it got me at school. I hated how the other children stared at her and looked away in disgust. My mother worked two jobs to provide for the family, but I was just embarrassed by her and didn't want to be seen with her. Every time my mother came to visit me at school, I wanted her to disappear. I felt a surge of hatred towards the woman who made me the laughing stock of the school. In a moment of extreme anger, I even once told my mother I wanted her to die. I was completely unconcerned about her feelings. As I grew up, I did whatever was in my power to distance myself from my mother. I studied hard and got a job overseas so I wouldn't have to meet her.
