Samsung Galaxy S5: Where can I get one?


Samsung
 will release its Galaxy S5 smartphone worldwide on April 11, and demand for the anticipated Android device is expected to be through the roof.


The tech titan's new flagship features a quad-core Krait chip running at 2.5GHz and a 5.1-inch, Full HD Super AMOLED display, making it one of the most powerful handsets on the market.

All of the UK's major mobile service providers and leading electronics retailers have confirmed plans to stock the device, and we have rounded up a comprehensive list of the deals on offer.

High Street retailers

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available to pre-order from selected retailers, theSamsung e-store and Stratford Westfield Experience Store from March 28. 

Samsung is offering the handset at £649.00 SIM-free from its own-brand outlets. 

Carphone Warehouse was among the first retailers to announce plans to sell the handset in the UK, offering it on a range of different contracts and networks, as well as on a SIM-free basis.

Said contracts start at £42 a month, which nets you unlimited minutes, uncapped texts, 3GB of 4G data and £100 Auto Cashback.

Phones 4u will also be selling the Galaxy S5 on a range of networks, with consumers able to pre-order it online and in stores on 4G contracts starting at £47 a month.

The device will be free on a 24-month contract, which comes with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 3GB of data and a free Samsung Brown Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Wi-Fi tablet.

Phones 4u is selling the phone SIM-free from £569.95, and is demoing the handset at select stores prior to its launch.

Online retailers

Internet retailers have also been forthcoming with their pricing plans for the Galaxy S5, withClove slapping a £550 price tag on a SIM-free model, although this is subject to change.

Unlocked Mobiles has price-matched Clove by advertising the Android powerhouse for £549, while Handtec has undercut both of its competitors by pricing the handset at £545.

Mobiles.co.uk and Expansys will also be stocking the Galaxy S5, with the former yet to announce pricing details and the latter slapping £559.99 tag on it.

Network providers

Three

Three was the first UK operator to disclose itspricing plans for the Galaxy S5, offering the phone with an upfront cost of £69, coupled with a choice of four different 24-month price plans.

Monthly payments range from £38 for 600 minutes and 2GB of data, to £44 a month for unlimited minutes and uncapped data. Three is now taking pre-orders for the phone.

All Three contracts come with 4G connectivity at no extra cost and no roaming charges in 11 countries, including the US.

Vodafone

Vodafone is now taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S4, handing it out for £37 a month on a Red plan to customers who trade in an older Galaxy device.

Its 4G price plans start at £19 upfront followed by monthly payments of £47 for uncapped minutes and texts, 2GB of data, plus access to either Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV.

The service provider has also announced that it will be the only operator in Britain offering the gold edition of the Galaxy S5 at launch, and is offering this model for pre-order along with the standard blue, black and white colour options.

O2

O2 is selling the handset in black, white and electric blue at launch, offering it up for pre-order on a range of Refresh tariffs.

Contracts start at £69.99 upfront, followed by a monthly cost of £38, which gives users 2GB of data, unlimited minutes and uncapped texts.

EE

EE is selling the Galaxy S5 on its 4G network, but customers who wish to take out the device on Orange or T-Mobile deals will have several to choose from.

The handset is available from £59.99 upfront on a £37.99 a month, two-year 4G contract that includes 4GB of data, unlimited minutes and unlimited texts.

Virgin Media

The Galaxy S5 will also be available throughVirgin Media, but specific details of the packages on offer remain thin on the ground.

Customers of Virgin Media's broadband and TV services will receive inclusive insurance and £5 off their monthly tariff if they take out the Galaxy S5 with the operator.
